That guy above? He died from scurvy.
Our math activity today was very simple. Like so simple it took about two minutes to talk about and to eat. Edible math? Yes, Matey.
We talked about pirates, scurvy, vitamin C, and citrus fruit. Then I cut up an orange and we talked about fractions. Two halves equal one whole, four quarters equal one whole, two quarters equal one half, and so on. I'm boring myself just talking about it. Maybe it was over their heads. Or maybe they just really wanted to eat that orange. Either way, my Science Kiddos weren't too caught up in the idea of fractions today. They did, however, enjoy making monkey faces whilst eating oranges off the peel. At any rate, I planted some good vocabulary in their brains, we had fun, and maybe next time they'll be totally excited about fraction math!
Who has some ideas for me on how to spice this one up a bit?
